Posterboy Skills Academy is geared and motivated to help the youth earn scholarships to colleges and universities around the country. Although some view Basketball as merrily a sport, the Posterboy Skills Academy family cherishes its opportunities and ability to change an Athletes life.
Posterboy Skills Academy Travel Basketball Program is for those players who have progressed beyond the Recreational Leagues or other City Leagues. Although travel basketball is one of the most competitive levels that players will compete in, Success is more than just about wins and losses. It’s about developing successful individuals that will grow to achieve greatness as teammates and individuals.
Please understand being apart of Posterboy Skills Academy Travel Team requires a high level of commitment to practice and tournament weekends. This is for those players who want to be challenged, and also have goals of playing at the high school varsity level, college, and beyond!
Successful teams plan, prepare, and expect to win. We feel that if we are to be a successful Program, we must be prepared to outwork other teams on both ends of the floor during games. Because of this philosophy, our practices must demand our full attention and effort. Non-productive, lazy practices build a poor work ethic and fundamentally unsound techniques. If poor performances are allowed in practices, it becomes the mode of operation in all things we do on and off the court. We must practice hard in order to perform well on the court during game time. All players must make an effort in practice to prepare to be the best basketball player they can be, on and off the court. Our Posterboy Skills Academy Travel teams are formed by tryouts that are controlled by our professional coaches. We will host our first full tryout in the first week of September, as well as other tryouts in the later months for other seasons.
Posterboy Skills Academy Travel Teams will consist of 8-10 players per team, per grade level. The travel season runs year round, but is broken up into 3 seasons with a month break in August.
Fall season(September-December), Winter season(January-March), Spring/Summer(April-July). Our expectation is if you choose to play, that you are committed to your team for that season, that will include games outside of the High Desert. Games will be on weekends including holiday weekends as well With exception to the summer season in the month of July. Tournament locations will be in Anaheim, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Las Vegas.
As a program We do not expect a year-long commitment, but it is very important that you are committed to that season. We do understand that kids do play other sports, For example if your child plays Basketball and Baseball, we ask that you finish out your season commitment with basketball before moving to Baseball. All parents and players are required to sign a commitment contract before being selected to a team. We expect players and families to have a commitment to the team for the duration of the season.
Note: Once we have selected teams in order to get onto a roster you will have to wait for someone to leave to take someone’s spot. Also there are no refunds and once you are on a roster you will be with that team for that entire season.
